Scientists say that 21st century is a biomedical time, not an electrical time. But without the help of electronic data processing and transformation, biomedical technology alone cannot go too far. Funny enough, the word biomedical itself is just a combination of two disciplines. So the interdisciplinary exploitation serves as the critical part for our electric and electronics world as well as any other fields to find new way of being.
But the power of knowledge collaboration is certainly not restricted to science and engineering; it is in the full community of learning. Walking around campus I absorbed a reality that there is a seamless web between students from different professional backgrounds. The engineering students are discussing animatedly in a philosophy lecture, speaking passionately in the public speaking club, and looking for sparkling ideas from learning history and arts. How wonderful that is! That, ladies and gentleman, is just a significant step forward to be well-rounded because once we jump out of the circle we can see the bigger picture.

No matter great people or normal people, they all have temper. They will get angry if they feel humiliated, which is understandable. But have we thought og whether our over-extreme words will hurt others? For most of the circumstances, people dont have too many conflicts with each other, most of the argues occur just because both sides wont give in.
People all care about their self-respect, especially Chinese. Self-respect is abstract and unpredictable, but is the tinniest standard in Chinese social interactions. When we say respect others, we mean not to hurt others self-respect. Respect gives people power and honor. It lives among us though we cant see or hear.
The most impolite thing is to disrespect somebody. They might hate you for a lifetime for this. Learning to respect others is not easy. First, we should show respect form the bottom of our heart without making others think were superficial. Second, every little action, every small expression might hurt people.I remember a few friends of mine lost their opportunity just because of some small mistakes. For example, if a student asks a teacher a question and the teacher replies that its easy. The student might feel humiliated and wont ask the teacher again. He might even lost the excitment to learn.
The different backgrounds we have result in our different values. So nobody has the right to force others to accept their ideas. So we have to be tolerant. As long as he or she doesnt violate your basic regulation, why not treat it in a tolerant way? Even if they have made you unhappy, just let it gone with the wind.
To be tolerant, you can;t speak extreme words. You might get in trouble just because of some words you think can bring you temporary pleasure. Even if youre criticizing people, you should try to be mild.
Tolstoy is a great author. But his life is a tragedy, mostly resulted from his marriage. His wifes ever-lasting complain had put him to death. When Tolstoy was 82, he could bear his wife anymore and ran out of his house. He ended up dead in the railway station. Before he died, his only requirement was that his wife wouldnt be allowed to be with him. Lincoln was also like him. Some people say that the greatest tragedy in Lincolns life wasnt that he was shot dead but his wife, Mary. For 23 years, he had to tolerate his wifes noise.

Graduation Day
A day passed, then a week, then a month. Before I could blink, it was graduation day. I watched as her perfect body floated like an angel up on stage to get her diploma. 这个宝葫芦能帮王葆完成任何事情，例如：变好吃的，帮他完成手工，帮他变出满屋子的'花草，甚至是在考试的时候帮他调换试卷……虽然宝葫芦给了他一种“特殊的幸福”，但是麻烦却接二连三地找上门来，使得他在亲人、朋友面前出丑、尴尬，最后他知道那些东西都是别人的，这使他非常气愤，想扔掉宝葫芦，可是却怎么也摆脱不了宝葫芦。最后还好王葆只是做了一场梦，在这场梦之后，他受到了极大的教育。

Those of us who watched the lunar voyage of Apollo 11 were transfixed as we saw the first men walk on the moon and return to earth. But to get there, those astronauts literally had to break out of the tremendous gravity pull of the earth. More energy was spent in the first few minutes of lift-off, in the first few miles of travel, than was used over the next several days to travel half a million miles.

Habits, too, have tremendous gravity pull- more than most people realize or would admit. Breaking deeply imbedded habitual tendencies such as procrastination, impatience, criticalness, or selfishness that violate basic principles of human effectiveness involves more than a little willpower and a few minor changes in our lives. “Lift off” takes a tremendous effort, but once we break out of the gravity pull, our freedom takes on a whole new dimension.
习惯也是一样，它具有极大的引力，只是许多人不加注意或不肯承认了。想要革除因循苟且，缺乏耐心，吹毛求疵或自私自利等不良习性，若是缺乏意志力，不能大刀阔斧的改革，便难以实现目标。“起飞”需要极大的努力，然而一旦脱离重力的牵绊，我们便可享受前所未有的自由。
Like any natural force, gravity pull can work with us or against us. The gravity pull of some of our habits may currently be keeping us from going where we want to go. But it is also gravity pull that keeps our world together, that keeps the planets in their orbits and our universe in order. It is a powerful force, and if we use it effectively, we can use the gravity pull of habit to create the cohesiveness and order necessary to establish effectiveness in our lives.
习惯的引力就如同自然界所有的力量一般，可以为我们所用，也可能危害我们，关键看我们如何运用。不过，习惯或许一时有碍于达到目标，但也有积极的一面。宇宙万物各循轨道运行，彼此保持一定的秩序，毕竟也都有赖于引力的作用。所以只要我们善于运用习惯的庞大引力，就能使生活有重心，有秩序，有效率。
